Hindu : 25 June - Editorial : positive step but huddles remain

This articles talks about the possible hurdles which pose in front of modi's government in making India a Nuclear power producer. It's starts which how modi has agreed upon signing the additional protocol agreeing to terms of international atomic energy agency thus getting an invitation to join Nuclear Supplier Group with which India would have many advantages as a member. Though most of the document has been done by Manmohan government, modified swung fast to get things moving towards the nuclear deal so that zindia  ould get the best out of lot. This is seen well with India signing a bilateral  civilian nuclear cooperation agreements  with countries like Russia, France, UK,  Argentina.

Now the hurdles India faces is the forced transparency of her nuclear establishments,  willingness to share details with America and France, how ever signing the bilateral agreement with Japan will let us learn Thierry nuclear technology too. And such a strong before modi's visit to America in the coming September only means India will be comfortable in positioning itself as a nuclear weapons power by that time. Strategic decisions like this will thus help atomic energy wing of India to grow by leaps and bounds to emerge as a viable competitor in the global market

Hindu : 25 June - Editorial : Continue the conversation

The article talks here on how human rights are still under at most humiliation when it comes to bringing justice towards victims of war from Congo to columnist and from Syria to Sri Lanka. Taking the recent London summit as reference author says how the summit ignored a burning issue as big as perpetrators enjoying sexual violence against children and  women from these war zones in spite of knowing that some day they will be asked to answer for their crimes. Such a situation has arised because of the laws which are not stringent to make one frighten facing the verdict if proven for the crimes committed. Though Geneva conventions and special tribunals are best intentioned to try for genocide and ill acts of humanitarian,  the results are not effective. The author feels that even the rent international criminal court based in Hague is unable to perform in its best intentions since a super power nation like the USA wasn't ready to come under ICC'S jurisdiction. An initiative taken by British secretary William Hague and U.N ambassador Angelina Jolie looked bleak for a powerful justice machine like ICC.

On a positive note though some 150 countries have agreed to sign the protocol in the London summit to fight against sexual crimes against women and children, one would only wonder how well will these countries put their words into action. Even as the summit was going on, news of African victims being sexually harassed at an assylim in UK  has come out which poses as irony for the protocol which the British was signing in the first place. Having said that, the UK agreed to put pressure on the authorities to have a smooth
Operation at the asylum now that things are more visible in presence of world media. Though the moral issue of our time on how to handle women victims in these tough times was addressed by British personnel during the summit,  one should keep in mind that in a democratic could try words will remain words as long as they are put in to effective action.

Hindu : 19 June - Editorial : Beyond Bagota's Ballot

This article talks about the recent appointment of Mayor of Bagota where president Mr.Santos of Columbia had personally endorsed a senior politician for such a role. How ever the tone is first set up explaining how Columbia had seen a considerable reform under the regime of Mr.Santos, after going through a tragic Civil war. he points out how dealt negotiations with FARC (Revolutionary Armed forces of Columbia) putting an end to civil war. some of the good conclusions done through these negotiations were reforms on agriculture, involvement of political personnel in military decisions and drastically reduce links with Drug mafia. One of the major concern though is still under negotiation talks as the president was not happy to provide impunity to terrorists in response to FARC providing justice to those who were effected through demobilization. Thus supporting Mr.Santos re election in the recent elections for Columbia.

However, there are certain instances where though the presidents intentions were true to his nature, they are not seen to the best interest of the party or the country. As Amnesty international's report stated that human rights violation is still in action even though peace negotiations were still continuing. The article concludes that it is high time that the president take into consideration on what is best for the country's interest and prevail peace specially when dealing effectively with organised crime and drug lords. Since Columbia emerged as the third largest economy in latin America, recently, it is expected from the Columbian government to start respecting human rights even if it means to take decisive mandate thus gaining the confidence of people of Columbia who are willingly rowing with the changing tides.

Hindu : 3 May - Lead : America's politics of convenience

God Bless America is no longer a style statement for the super power. It turns out that the same attitude of the US in interfering in other countries foreign affairs had brought only shame and insults with dangerous consequences. It is known fact that September 11 2001, though was a wake up call, had been a direct attack on the US by talibans for their suppression in Afghanistan, however it was the Same country which helped these talibans to go against the government with heavy arms and artillery supply. U.S should have been more careful even after a shocking event like Sep'11. Instead, U.S had chose to link up terrorism to a minority group and in the name of home land security breached all codes of moral humanity. This takes us to the latest bombing incident in Boston. Without any doubt, the first victims of investigation were Muslims and Sikhs. It's this attitude and prejudice of the U.S which had made lives of minority groups in the U.S miserable and not to mention derogatory.

But an interesting fact came into light once the FBI caught prime victims, one of whom is already dead and the other wounded and getting treated in a hospital. It was found that the attack was from a small country from Russia; Chechnya. This was in response to U.S's interference in Chechnya to protest and fund the terrorists of that country to attack its government through extremist ways. Its history written all over again, u help a terrorist group and they come back putting a hole in your own skull. Article also presents an interesting point that U.S is unnecessarily putting in too much lime light on the so called 'Terrorism" when it should actually concentrate is on its internal  and most severe problem of Maniac gun shootings. We wonder why U.S doesn't call it terrorism instead takes them to trial calling them as 'disturbed individuals'. It's been shown that every year thousands of people die in America due to gun shoots either in a mad shoot out or in a  regular theft and mugging. Article suggests that America should first concentrate in bringing stringent rules for those who apply for personal gun licenses with a thorough background check especially their mental state. It ends with a mockery that one should first clean his own mess before lending a broomstick to the neighbor.

Hindu : 30 Apr - Editorial : Road to Damascus

Just like in old days; people still suffer in the name of equality, countries struggle in the name of power and peace vanishes in the name of justice. Syria falls in to the right example with this article where all the events leading Syria into a dangerous Civil War have be rigorously explained. Even a twice intervention from U.N first by Mr.Kofi Anin followed by Mr.Brahmini could not end the suffering of Syrians. In a country with about 35 million population, 3.5 million are now refugees outside the border while 7 million live in a dying hope to receive aids by being inside the country. Author clearly points out how the government had taken extremist steps since 2011 by using violence to suppress protests from the opposition. While this being only one side of the coin, whats more damaging is the surrounding countries and the west's enthusiasm to resolve this conflict in Syria of course for their own regional benefits.

Author explains how Mr. Brhamini had given a five step systematic procedure to end this crisis in which non interference of the outsiders and shunning of the ruling government's dream of winning this war by military were very crucial. Author also briefed few of the many atrocities committed by Syrian government to suppress the revolution and violence being the main culprit why Syria was not able to follow the path of Lybian liberation movement. However giving so much information, explaining how all the important players in this war are making their moves with self explained selfish motives, author hopes that at least the major opposition would be united looking at the unending pain of common man in their own country and would stand up to end this invisible civil war diplomatically through peace negotiations
