Some guy who thinks he is a genius to know about Indian culture comments on various theories which explain the transition of Indian cultures in modern times. Most of the times he was being sarcastic in his views throwing tantrums on the theorists who presented their theories. Honestly the whole article looked ridiculous to me and was irritated reading it.
Firstly, the Author directly attacks the views of Nandy who made some blunt statements that most of the corrupt come from the backward castes. Though such claims are blunt and should be shunned but what the difference if he is responded in similar tone. The author disagrees to the theories which propose that the backward castes have been trying to meet up the upper caste by trying to follow them in preachings and business sector. He infacts satrically says that if the brahmins are fond of eating meat and lose their rituals to follow the greed ideals of lower caste and would that mean its a reverse theory suggesting that its the upper castes who have fallen to the habits of lower castes.
The whole idea of such arguments on various theories of society in Modern Indian have erupted with few people like Nandy who seem to be keenly interested to leave a mark in the pages of history with such repulsive and provocative theories. And as expected there was an outrage from all sections of the society to such an extent that people like Nandy were threatened to be sent to Jail. The author ridicules the idea of Nandy who threatens back saying that he would sit in jail and come up with better theories.
All in all, Author tries to clearly inflict the minds of readers with his views that such theories would be made fun of in due course of time. He also cites few examples from others notables who have come up thier own theories. He mentions Gandhi's theory beleived that India should have caste system to main a balance in the way system runs and Nehru's theory which beleived that our country should be divied in linguistic basis to have a sense of unity. The intention behind mentioning these theories by the author seem to make his one clear that putting such people in jail would only end up in having such theories which, for any reason, either good or bad, explain the current circumstances of Modern India.
There is only one person Author seems to be completely please with and its by no surprise is Ambedkar. He idealises Ambedkar's theory to be more practical since such theory was the result of the continous oppression of human values. I wonder how the author skipped from the practicality of Ambedkarism which clearly suggested that in a span of 50 years, the concept of reservation for the backwards should be abolised and it is to be claimed based on the economic depravation but not on caste and rightly predicted that failing to do so would end complete misbalance in the very needs of reservation.
