Author in this articles portrays his disbeleif on the kind of transition our Indian Army had gone through in terms of strict discipline and mutual respect among different heirarchies. Quoting the incident of last year where Jawans had a fight with thier superior in one of the batallions in Ladakh, Author explains why such the army personnel in the lower cader are being mistreated by their immediate superiors. He also takes for reference, a study by the psychologist that the main reason for a large amount of Sepoy or Jawan suicides is due to extreme humiliation. It is evident that once in Army, No soldier is allowed to talk against his/her superior officer which would be considered an offense and that soldier will be held upon under disciplinary action. So the higher officials taking to their own advantage mistreat their subordinates even to the extent of asking them to go and help thier wives in daily chores or taking their kids to school. This kind of treatment was adopted from the e sbritish army but such behaviour by any officer would reach to a breaking point and that could have led to increase in agony and cry for self respect which eventually results in such fights amongst them.
Army is the shield of the country and fight amongst themselves is the least anyone would expect. Though Ladakh's incident is now being taken to court for trial, author feels that the system should identify and skillfully rectify the flaws in it to give every army personnel the sense of ownership and dignity at all levels. Thus the article being in a tome of objective where author looks forwards that such incident could reduce in future if timely measures are taken.
