Author uses an objective tone in stating the current political situation of Pakistan and her journey with democracy. Author feels that though pakistan has a reason to celebrate that its first democratic government had successfully finished one term without any interference from the usual dictatorship, She probably has very little to boast about and give hope to her people from the events that happened in the past 5 years. It is evident that this country had suffered less from a government built by its own people but is still recovering from the damage done by previous presidential rule. Author points out that it was a good start to shift powers from its president to prime minister but that did not suffice yet from the decision making authority some of the military officials still have. Pakistan in the last five years though had a smooth government run, the economic policies had a steep effect on its development and most importantly international relations with neighbouring and western countries.
since the events of Mumbai attacks in 2008, Pakistan's relation with India was no good as India stopped beleiving Pakistan's version because India had evidence to prove that Pakistan militants played a crucial role in the attacks. Osama bin Laden's capture and consequent death in pakistan by a tactiful operation by U.S made it lot worse for Pakistan to cope with the then allegations that Pakistan was indeed a hub for international terrorism. Some hope which actually made this government look good was the peaceful improvement of people in Pakistan and author hope that Pakistan's government should focus more on the development plans to make the country economically strong and this hope will be a key factor in making it's people trust the government and give it a chance for the second term. Author ends the note with a hint that Pervez's re entry in Pakistan is something to be dealt seriously if the government wants to come back in power and also suggests that Government should stop living in the past blaming the dictator's rule for all the damage that was caused.
