Hindu : 3 Apr - Editorial : Saudi Arabia's Shocker

Expatriate is a person who has recided in a foreign land for a living or for any other reason. Saudi Arabia was always a land of opportunities for unskilled or semi skilled immigrants from India who wanted to earn enough money for a while so as to give a decent life style to their families back home.Saudi Arabis's new bill which insists that 1 out 10 employees should be a saudi Nationalite is a shocker to the whole SouthEast Asia and they have a very good reason to worry. Article is a clear explanation on the actual reason for the Gulf country to pass such a bill. It is not to restrict those whoare working in that country legally but a stern check on those illegal immigrants who have come leaving their home lands for search of money and most of them are prey for those greedy agents who make money by such trade. Apart from India especially Kerala, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Srilanka also are from those countries which produce high immigrants to Gulf every year.

Article also reassures that India is taking this bill seriously and is calling out all such illegal immigrants back without any delay. India has asked the Saudi Government not to send these people on deported status as tat would restrict their access to any other gulf country in future. Infact the central Government haso agreed to get them back on its own expenses. Article also confirms this is in no way a step taken by Saudi Arabia to stop Indians to work in their country or a target specifically put on India but thier own reform to make their country more Saudi conscious. Article ends with a note that Saudi's Bill should be an eye opener to all those petty employees to be careful with the agents who lure them for high money employability in gulf countries.
