Defense procurement procedure, a document which suggests how India from now on would procure artillery and military equipment and war machine is a subject in discussion since there is a new path taken by the government. With the experience of cheap quality military machines and the corruption involved by the middle in arms deal during foreign export, the defense procurement wheel has come back to point of origin that is to go for in house procurement. This was suggested based on two key points, one being the increase in strength for in house manufacturing and the other creating a strong base for arms manufacturing within the country. This suggests that a proposal to buy war machines would be the last resort only after a procurement search was extensively done within the country.
Though this would not have initial advantages, since foreign countries would not share there technologies to build machines in our country instead of a direct export, few ideas were also stated. An fdi would in a way help the foreign companies to invest in arms manufacturing by sharing their design. how ever the stake are too high in cases like this. It is well known that in house manufacturer like DRDO did not give any fruitful results, a well practice of indegnisation at least from now on would give better results. Article also suggests that an involvement by both public and private sectors in arms manufacturing would make strong base within the country.
